North Hastings Economic Development Committee wants to send a message. “Everyone is welcome here.” The committee decided as a collective that one of the things they could do to promote economic development is to implement a plan that supports diversity and inclusion in our community. A sticker campaign project was developed and launched where committee members would visit area businesses and ask them to display the vinyl sticker in a visible location. The sticker was locally designed and produced and will be distributed to businesses within the 7 municipalities NHEDC represents and represents a safe welcome environment for visitors. The sticker incorporates the progress flag (horizontal lines of pride flag ) with chevrons that represent trans people, non-binary people, people of colour, living with AIDS and the stigma that comes with it. Community Futures is proud to have supported this project through the Local Initiative Program.
