The Main Street Beautification Task Force aimed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of downtown Tweed by strategically placing colourful planters in neglected areas and in front of local businesses.
The project was developed as a result of the 13 ways consultation in partnership with local businesses, volunteers, CFDC and led by the Municipality of Tweed. Through the Local Initiatives Program, the team was able to purchase the planters which were filled with vibrant flowers and greenery. The planters were prepared and installed creating a significantly enhanced visual appeal to the main street, creating a more welcoming and attractive environment for both residents and visitors.
The project has also encouraged increased foot traffic and a heightened sense of community pride and engagement. The planter boxes will continue to provide a rotation of seasonally appropriate décor throughout the year. The CFDC was able to contribute $3,000 to this project.
