The Town of Bancroft has entered into a partnership agreement with Rural Roots Development Inc, that enables the construction of the new North Hastings Public Library and Community Space, which will be owned by the Town of Bancroft, alongside the construction of 40 units of mixed market housing (RGI, affordable and market) to be owned by the developer at project completion via a Strata Agreement. The North Hastings Public Library will be located on the ground floor of North Hastings Inspiration Place. Community Futures has provided $10,000 through the Local Initiatives Program which will support the up fit of the Maker/Creative Space in the new library. This space is intended to provide artists and adventurers with an opportunity to try out something new or to learn new skills they may not have been exposed to before. The space will act as a ‘micro-incubator’ once it is fully outfitted by providing residents with access to specialized equipment and technology, which may foster small business development without initial start up costs.
